Welcome to the website of the 8th IIC’s Student & Emerging Conservator Conference (IIC-S&ECC). The conference, entitled ‘The Living Lab’, will take place online and in person in the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, from 28th to 31st October 2025.

This will be the first time that the IIC-S&ECC will be held in Latin America, and the issues surrounding the event are deeply related to young students and emerging conservators in the countries that make up the Americas. With the concept of the living laboratory in mind, we invite everyone to reflect deeply on their experiences, trends and studies on working in laboratories and our role in these spaces.

The event is being organised by students from Brazilian Conservation and Restoration undergraduate majors (UFMG, UFRJ, UFPA, UFPel and IFMG), by emerging professionals from these same institutions, in partnership with the Federal University of Minas Gerais, the Inhotim Institute and the Moreira Salles Institute.

The objectives of the event are:

• • To promote networking between students and recent graduates in the field of conservation-restoration;
  • Create spaces for research and scientific dissemination by students for students;
  • Promote the professional and interpersonal development of current and future professionals in the field.
