Abstract

This publication to present the story the construction of the “Passos de Rua” in Vila Rica
(current city of Ouro Preto), considering for this the foundation of devotion to “Nosso Senhor
dos Passos” by the religious association of the Passos, in 1715, in the “Matriz de Nossa Senhora
do Pilar”and its preservation until contemporary times. Through consultations in primary and
secondary sources, historical interpretations are made and the most relevant facts and dynamism
of this religious devotion over the years are demonstrated.
